..........."unexpected events"............
Funny, they didn't mention being sued for covering up sexual abuse of a child.
Maybe that isn't an unexpected event?
september 21, 2016 to all congregations re: global assistance arrangement for the 2017 service year.
ps to bodies of elders:.
this postscript should not be read to the congregation, and this letter should not be placed on the noticeboard.

fate, chance, divine retribution or sh*t happens?.
so i described a cordial conversation with my jw wife and super-duper jw mil last week in which they encouraged me to ‘return to jehovah’.
i told them that i would not be fooled thrice.. later that week we were discussing a fine mutual jw friend, ‘brother x’, that met with a very untimely death.
I never quite thought about it the way NVR2L8. But it is a good point.
A JW says that another fellow JW could have avoided calamity if they had not gone to a concert, surfing, shopping, etc., during a meeting time.
Of course they won't get it. But you can ask if that individual were somewhere else instead of where the incident happened and at the same exact time, would the JW still have something overcome him?
Well they can't say yes because then it is predestination!
Doesn't matter where you are at, something bad will happen if you are not at the meeting.
If they say no, well then attending meetings, as we know here in this forum, is absolutely no guarantee of your life being spared from "unforeseen occurrences".
How did I believe this crap!!??
the watchtower 2007 feb 15 pp.30-31 explains why jehovah's witnesses are not to toast.
what is astounding is that for each point they then go on an explain why the point is irrelevant, yet still conclude toasting is wrong.
what did people think when reading this?
Great thread JWFacts!
Using their logic, I rejected the JW religion because it has a religious background too.
i finally had the guts to create a profile to be able to post.
i've been lurking for a few months and have read all your experiences and comments dutifully.
you have been a great help in my process of waking up from this cult posing as the one true religion.
Welcome! Very creative with the name. Love it!
I'm form the east coast too - Northeast!
my room mate just introduced me to the darkmatter2525 channel on youtube.
hilarity ensued.
enjoy .
warning!
long post ahead!.
i didn't know what to expect but i was really excited to be invited to accompany my daughter and her closest friends to a large (300+) party held at a famous hot spot.
Awesome 3rdgen!
Sounds like you really enjoyed yourself.
I attended my very first halloween party this year.
And guess what? I did the same thing!
I told people that this was my first Halloween party ever.
Naturally they asked why. I mentioned I was raise a JW and that led to some interesting conversation.
If was awesome though. I really enjoyed myself. And I believe you did as well at your party.
Congrats!
ive been lurking for a while and finally got around to registering.
about me: i was essentially born in & indoctrinated from youth.
i was always a borderline "bad association" type because i always did the minimum and always disagreed with much of what was taught; even when i was a child.. luckily for me my father was never a jw so i never had to endure the male head pressure.
years ago i remember there being a number of sites with pretty extensive archives of watchtower publications online.
can anyone direct me to the best current site for this material?
in particular i am looking for a booklet from 1898 called "the bible vs. the theory of evolution".
I too have wondered about slimboyfat's return.
He seems to have been silent on the matter.
Regardless, thanks for the links everyone!
after listening to the hearings of the australian royal commission into institutional responses to child sexual abuse, i am no longer content to have simply walked away from the organization.
as a matter of conscience, i do not want my name linked with the organization in any way.
i know this letter has been posted previously, and i thank the author.
This is an awesome thread.
Thanks for sharing Sail Away!
how many of us were woken up by some apostate yelling false prophets at a convention?.
how many of us were woken up by someone holding a sign and yelling, what happened to 1975.
how many of us were coerced to investigate the wt because some ex-jw pulled up a bunch of old watchtowers magazines and told us to read the false predictions?.
I woke myself up after being a ministerial servant for almost 10 years.
Only after waking up did I reflect on the the things of the past.
I recall being about 17 that while going door to door, a woman told me JWs were a cult and I was brainwashed.
Naturally at the time I denied it.
Now I wish it would have moved me to action.
Oh well, about 10 years later it made sense.
I'm out now. I'm glad.
